Irza's anzac story

Anzac

Anzac day is a time when we remember New Zealanders and Australians who fought in wars around the world. Some people go to dawn service and parades, talk to older people in your family, like your grandma or your great-grandma about their memories of war.
The war between Gallipoli and New zealand started 1915 and ended 1918
Anzac Day is celebrated in Australia and New Zealand on the 25th of April every year.
We celebrate by doing parades, buying poppies, and my favourite....... making ANZAC BISCUITS, Yummmmmmmmmm.
ANZAC stands for Australian and New Zealand Army Corps.
John Macrae made this beautiful poem about poppies and war:
In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.
